The total solar eclipse of 2017 is in the past now, but here are two of the pictures I took of the sun directly with my iPhone (Don’t worry I didn’t actually stare directly at the sun). As you can see in the pictures above, at the bottom of the sun (The blue) you can actually see the moon covering part of the sun. I do live in New York, so I did not get the totality of the eclipse. The pictures above show the Moon covering part of the sun through the reflection of the camera in my iPhone. I did see the partial solar eclipse with my own eyes using the certified eclipse glasses given to me at The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum located in New York City.
